Following the trend of pioneering efforts of parent university, School of Economics in 1992 introduced the MBE programme in consultation with the Department of Economics, South Campus, Delhi University. The programme was modeled on the pattern of MBE programme at Harvard Business School.

The students coming from diverse backgrounds such as Economics, Commerce and Physical Sciences are admitted to the course after a rigorous selection procedure at an all India level. With its four semesters combined, supplemented with eight weeks of corporate attachment after the second semester, the course provides a unique model of education- a three way partnership among motivated students, caring faculty, and participating industries- is recognised as a necessity for learning.

An MBE'ian achieves proficiency in management science, equipped with the tools of Economics both qualitative and quantitative. The quantitative aspect of Economics is covered by in-depth study of the subjects like Econometrics, Demand Forecasting and Operations Research, and the qualitative aspect being covered by Micro-Economics, Macro-Economics and International Economics.

The dynamic nature of the curriculum is maintained by subjects like Business Environment in India and Economic Policy, Management Information System, Corporate Policy and Strategic Planning.

To blend the business economics with practicality, the course offers specialisation in one of the conventional skills of management- Marketing, Finance and Systems.

Management subjects teach, how a manager should act, implement and coordinate.Qualitative and Quantitative tools of Economics like Econometrics, Operations Research and Demand Forecasting teach to analyse and optimise the target under the given economic environment.

A judicious mix, MBE programme, provides the student managers with conceptual and foundation of current and prospective developments in theory and practice.
